Since 2010 I have been a freelance marketing and creative consultant, where I have applied my communications and marketing media skills for a wide variety of clients in various industries.
In 2014 I entered the realm of South African current affairs and graphic journalism working at The Citizen News. There I utilised my user experience and creative marketing skills by assisting the editorial department with supporting graphics and visual aids needed for news, sport and supplements for various target markets. I further developed my communications role through meaningful data journalism and digital communication.
In 2015 I expanded my experience by becoming a culture analyst for EYT Cultural Strategists who's industry focus is business consulting towards change management and corporate culture. EYT has consulted for some of South Africa's biggest corporate entities such as ABSA and Nedbank to name a few, as well as having contributed toward a government health service improvement program through another corporate partnership.
As a Culture Analyst I was required to understand and focus on the visual need of each project in getting a specific message across to our clients through visual training packages. I had to familiarise myself with relevant MOU's to gain a clear understanding of the client's mindset and the specific change management needed for each phase of various projects. I also worked closely with the industrial psychologist and managing directors to develop appropriate visual styles. I was creatively responsible for stock images, custom graphics and icons, developing animated PowerPoint presentations, eye-catching infographics, journey maps, story boards, flow diagrams, mind maps and training pamphlets/posters.
During my time at EYT I also worked closely with the project manager to develop a plan and brief for re-designing the company's website, which was approved and implemented. It was a complete over-haul of the existing design and CMS with a new clean modern look and feel, as well as an improved user experience with user focused navigation and responsive design. I was responsible for all design and development. An analysis of the old website compared with current UX/UI standards guided my implementation of the new CMS system, navigation, custom styling/CSS and content. On re-publishing of the website I also utilized Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools to improve SEO and recording of site traffic to be able to better assess user behaviour and the effectiveness of the website.
In 2017 I took on the role of Group Marketing Coordinator for Rubio Monocoat Africa and Forest Flooring, based in Kyalami, where I am currently utilising all my experience toward driving the two companies respective marketing objectives and further developing their digital footprint and marketing collateral.
As a proficient communicator I am experienced in a full range of software applications, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office and Freeware programs. I have worked extensively in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel throughout my career, particularly during my time at EYT where I was responsible for developing all client branded presentations, documents and spreadsheets for training and correspondence purposes. I have also been working with Adobe Software consistently for the past 8 years.
I love sharing new cultural experiences and meeting new people from all walks of life. Culture is fun and opens the door for more diverse opportunities. If you have any enquiries or questions please get in touch.
